Get-together and parties

The International Friendship Club of Negros Island, composed mostly of foreigners married to Filipinos, held a get-together at Palmas Del Mar Resort and Hotel recently.

The club helps members understand the Filipino culture and heritage, and introduce them to places in Negros, among others. Its members meet every third Friday of the month.

Among its officers are John Beltran - president, Gloria Fisher - vice president and Cecille Smith - member, Board of Trustees. The group plans to help by funding scholars, beautification of streets, and rendering community service.

Members of the Bacolod Retired Americans and Allied Veterans Organization led by Manny Villa were present at the party.

Maricon Hermano celebrated her birthday at the Soccoro Garden Restaurant in Bacolod City recently, with a buffet dinner. Among those who participated in the games and sing-along were Angela Salvallon, Tina Alagaban, Verne de la Cruz, Cid Baynosa and Loribeth Grandea.

A party was held by Emcor-Bacolod at the Grand Royale at Goldenfields with Grupo Mari Teves providing music. The staff joined the Ms. Gay Contest, Chorale Singing Contest and Search for Best Couple for the Night Contest.

Its officers present were Danilo Talaban, Elmer Feleciano, Angelo Salvallon, Jeffereson Antiquera, Verne Ruscoe de la Cruz, Milton Yap Darryl Defensor, Victor Chua Go and Sanny Ondona.

From their original name of "Solas de Apoyo," a group of civic ladies renamed themselves as "Friends." They held a party at the residence of Fe Remitio. Their previous gatherings were held at the residence of former Bacolod mayor Rematche Parreño. A welcome bash was also held for New Yorker Myrna Romero.*
