Boy dies in road mishap;
couple hit by ambulance

A six-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a speeding vehicle- for-hire in Guihulngan town, while a couple on board a motorcycle suffered injuries when they were bumped by an ambulance of the Amlan government, in Sibulan town, Wednesday, in Oriental Negros.

Reygan Toquero, 6, died shortly after he was taken to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City after he was hit by a V-hire vehicle in Guihulngan.

The boy's father, Avelino, said his son alighted from a motorcab and immediately crossed the road at about 5 p.m. Wednesday in Brgy. Tuway when the vehicle hit him.

TF 24 nabs 2 drug suspects

Two suspects in the proliferation of illegal drugs were separately arrested by the Task Force 24 in Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros, recently.

The task force, composed of joint operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Dumaguete Police Office first apprehended Reynaldo Buagas, of Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete in a buy-bust operation in his room at the Honeycomb Hotel in the city, while he was in the act of selling drugs.

Confiscated from him were nine sachets in different sizes containing suspected shabu, and P500 in marked money.

FU launches search
for outstanding grads

The Foundation University Alumni Association has launched its 2006 Search for Outstanding FU Alumni to recognize the achievements of graduates who have excelled in their respective fields, FU Alumni Relations director Donna Aguilar, said.

The awarding is in line with the 57th Founding Anniversary of Foundation University in July 4 this year, Aguilar said, adding that any FU bona fide alumnus or alumnae may be nominated by his fellow graduate in

categories that include Accountancy, Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Sciences, Corporate Business Management/Banking, Entrepreneurship, Education, Law, Community Service (like environmental advocacy, etc.), and Government/Public Service.
