NegOr PNP to enhance
skills in traffic safety

The Oriental Negros Philippine National Police is tapping traffic enforcers in the fight against crime through traffic safety education and enforcement.

Lecturers from the highway patrol group and LTO held conferences on the Anti-Carnapping Law or Republic Act 6539, and the the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of the Philippines, or RA 4136, in Cooperation of the Rotary Club of Dumaguete-South.

They discussed traffic violations, such as defacing, repainting, tampering and body building.

Meanwhile, a total of 277 motorcycles whose documents were found deficient were impounded by the police in cooperation with the Traffic Management Office in January alone, Dumaguete police director, Chief Insp. Manuel Hidalgo, said.

He said the confiscation is in line with the police Operation Kilum-kilum, Operation Bakal, and Operation Night Eyes.

This week, about 50 motorists were issued temporary operators permit for driving without motor registration, driving without license, and other infractions of the law. Among them was a woman motorist who swerved into a canal while trying to elude the checkpoint while driving without a license.*JG
