A six-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a speeding vehicle-
for-hire in Guihulngan town, while a couple on board a motorcycle
suffered injuries when they were bumped by an ambulance of the Amlan
government, in Sibulan town, Wednesday, in Oriental Negros.
Reygan Toquero, 6, died shortly after he was taken to the
Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City after he was
hit by a V-hire vehicle in Guihulngan.
The boy's father, Avelino, said his son alighted from a motorcab
and immediately crossed the road at about 5 p.m. Wednesday in Brgy.
Tuway when the vehicle hit him.
The boy was thrown to the pavement and the impact caused fatal
injuries in his head. He was rushed to the Guihulngan District Hospital
and was later transferred to the NOPH in Dumaguete where he died
minutes later.
Meanwhile, in Sibulan, couple Bebiano Catan, 45, and wife
Edna, 45, of Brgy. San Antonio, in the town, suffered injuries when
an ambulance bumped their motorcycle Wednesday evening in Brgy.
Ajong, Sibulan
Police said the motorcycle was about to turn into an interior
road when they were hit. They were thrown to the ground. The driver
of the ambulance was identified as Edgardo Masamong, 51, married
of Brgy. Bio-os, Amlan, who, at the time, was ferrying a patient
to the hospital.
After the collision, Masamong stopped the ambulance, and brought
the victims to the Silliman University Medical Center, before proceeding
to the NOPH with his patient from Amlan.*
