60 easy-ride operators
seek entry to Dumaguete

About 60 easy-ride operators from Bacong town, Oriental Negros have reiterated their request to be allowed entry into the streets of Dumaguete City.

Bacong Mayor Rudolfo Yee and a Sangguniang Bayan Member presented their request to allow public utility jeepneys from Bacong to unload passengers along Sta. Rosa Street in the city to Dumaguete Traffic Management officer Paulino Honculada. Honculada, however, said granting the request would set a precedent to other transport groups in the province. But he added that he will submit Yee's request to the Traffic Regulatory Board of the city government for consideration.

Dumaguete Mayor Agustin Perdices, on the other hand, said the management of the terminal in Barangay Bagacay was given a four-month timetable to comply with the requirements, such as the additional base, comfort rooms and other amenities.*JG
