Consistently inconsistent
The contradiction is found in our lives when we are proud to be
a Filipino with the dream of becoming a U.S. Citizen, when one announces
she shall not run for election because it will divide the nation
and gets elected and divides the nation, when we raise the VAT to
12 percent to raise more revenue but cannot explain the disbursement
of 726 million of fertilizer funds. It further goes deeper when
we know we need to change and do nothing about it by allowing good
intentions to remain just a thought. When asked to relentlessly
seek the truth, we know that "the truth does not contradict the
truth".
Being inconsistent gives rise to the opportunity to becoming
consistent i.e., conforming to a regular pattern. Let it not remain
a wish but a goal that we reform the Commission on Elections. However,
a contradiction exists when the needed action toward reformation
is known by the Commissioners who claim they are public servants
but will not resign despite the fact that the general public has
lost trust in them. Instead they gather their regional officers
for a seminar workshop on moral values and rewriting the Comelec's
mission/vision statement. Whenever a commissioner speaks out I get
excited to see how the admonition of "who exalts himself will be
humbled, and who humbles himself will be exalted" will transpire.

Another area of contradiction is when Management announces
"we aim to serve you better" and make clients wait on line standing
up by removing the seats that were once provided to provide the
clients some comfort during waiting. It may work toward encouraging
the teller to work faster but such is negated when one client has
to do several cash withdrawals as was requested by her officemates
which requires the others to wait equally as if ten other people
where ahead of them.

We are a City known for keeping our surroundings clean and
one opportunity to be consistent is at the corner of Gov. M. Perdices
and Dr. V. Locsin Streets. Does the burned-out corner have to be
kept dirty? Who is responsible for keeping the sidewalk clean?

To be consistent, let us end with two attempts to make you
smile as sent in by Manong Alex.
Bisaya 1: "Gara ng kutsi, siguro kay Miyur iyan!"
Bisaya 2: "Dilibay!"
Bisaya1: "Kay Hipi?"
Bisaya 2: "Tuntu ka man. Kay FATHER iyan. Gisulat niya sa
likud o,'SAFARI'."
Hello! Heto na naman ako. Gulung-gulo ulit ang isip ko. May nais
lang sana akong itanong sa inyo. Alam ko matutulungan niyo ako.
ANG "BIRDS FLU" ba ay past tense ng "BIRDS FLY"?*
