Solon pushes for
Bacolod Palaro '06 bid

Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella yesterday said he will bid for the City to host the 2006 Palarong Pambansa if he will be allowed by the Department of Education.

The solon said a province in Luzon is supposed to host the national meet for the country's elementary and high school athletes, after Visayas hosted the competitions last year when the Games were staged in Iloilo City.

Puentevella, however, said Bacolod, which hosted five events of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games last year, is ready if it is given the hosting job.

Magnolia, Mambukal
register second wins

Magnolia-Nutrioil, Mambukal Summer Resort and Talisay Basketball Athletic Club notched their second victories over the weekend as they set the early pace in the 6th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Cup at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Behind center Andy Angudong and Bert Celis, Mambukal repulsed Tangub Basketball Association, 111-97, Sunday, while Talisay, with Bryan Alunan and Nonoy Hugnatan at the helm, defeated Your Basketball Athletic Club, 110-84, in the second game. The wins gave TBAC and Mambukal a share of the Bracket A lead with identical 2-0 records.

Meanwhile, 2004 MVP Warren Alintano and ex-West Negros College standout Jojo San Miguel powered Magnolia-Nutrioil to an 80-69 triumph over BBC, 80-69, Saturday for the solo leadership in Bracket B at 2-0.
