Slay suspect apprehended

A 25-year-old man who allegedly shot dead a reveler during the fiesta celebration at Purok Sto. Niņo, Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros, was arrrested midnight Saturday.

Wilson Jalandoni, single of Balugo, Valencia town, was nabbed by a joint team of the Dumaguete City Philippine National Police and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Siaton PNP in Barangay Salag, in Siaton town.

Witnesses said Jonathan Gramatica, 20, of Barangay Talay was walking home with friends from the purok dance hall at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, when Jalandoni, with two companions, approached, pulled out his handgun, and shot him in the waist.

Jalandoni and his companions fled after the shooting.

A follow-up police investigation traced him to Siaton where he was apprehended.

City police investigator Insp. Teddy Faburada said Jalandoni was out on a P20,000 bail following his arrest three years ago for theft.

Meanwhile, a middle-aged housewife has been charged with illegal drug offense after her arrest in a raid in Barangay Cadawinonan Wednesday afternoon last week.

Caroline Limpajan, 45, is now detained at the city PNP detention center. Police said a joint team from the Provincial Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group, PDEA, and the city police led by Chief Inspector Manuel Hidalgo, swooped down on her house by virtue of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Rosendo Bandal, Jr. of the Regional Trial Court.

Hidalgo said the suspect's husband was absent during the operation.

Police confiscated two small plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, another sachet with shabu residue, a disposable lighter, an improvised burner, and a pair of scissors.*RG
