at marine reserve area

Police arrested three men in the act of poaching in the municipal marine reserve in Brgy. Bulak, Dauin, Oriental Negros, recently.

Apprehended were Andres Tindoc, of legal age; Romulo Tindoc, 48; and Victor Yucor, 58, all married, and residents of Brgy. San Miguel, in Bacong town.

Police and Bantay Dagat operatives led by Senior Police Officer 3 Joel Alcala, chief of the Police Non-Commissioned Office Intelligence division of Dauin Philippine National Police, and PO3 Enel Enopia, police environmental desk officer, caught the three fishermen at about 9 p.m. Tuesday last week, on information that they were spotted in the restricted area using fine fish nets or "pukot."

They were charged with violating the Fishery Code of the Philippines but were later released after paying the fines.

Meanwhile, a couple was waylaid and robbed of P50,000 in cash and one of them killed by unidentified suspects Sunday, in Sitio Mandi-e, Barangay Magsaysay, in Guihulngan town.

The victims, Aninias and Erlinda Tachado, 47, are in the hogs buy-and-sell business and were on their way home from a flea market in Barangay Buenavista Sunday.

The husband died of three gunshot wounds, while the wife was shot in the back, while trying to run for her life. She is presently recuperating at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.*
