A night to remember

LA VIDA NEGRENSE

A few days after his arrival from a three-week vacation to Europe with his whole family, Sugar Federation president Nene Rojas was treated to a surprise party by his close friends and relatives who remembered his birthday.

The party held at the posh Rojas residence had close to a hundred friends gathered to greet the celebrator. Always supportive and by his side was his lovely wife, the former Lourdes Montilla, and his children.

The sprawling lawn across the swimming pool was where well-wishers sang "Happy Birthday" to the celebrator. After dinner, a heart-warming surprise number was rendered by the little tots of a charity organization.

Nene has been president for 41 years of the Association of Sugarcane Growers, Inc. and also president of the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters that has 30,000 members nationwide. He has helped establish a foundation and school that provides free education to the children of their farm laborers. He was also one of the top representatives of the Philippine Sugar Industry during World Sugar Conferences held in various countries abroad such as Switzerland, Australlia, USA, and London.

The Rojases have nine children: Francis, Enrique Jr., Gerardo, Eugenia, Joseph, Maria Lourdes, Agnes Patricia, Roberto and Bobby.*
