Cops seize 13 sacks of DVDs

Thirteen sacks of pirated VCDs and DVDs were seized in simultaneous raids conducted by the Bacolod police on different establishments in the City at about 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

Bacolod Intelligence and Investigation Branch operatives led by Supt. Pedrito Escarilla, City Mobile Group and Barangay Intelligence Network confiscated from their owner about 8,000 pirated DVDs and CDs for violation of Presidential Decree 1987 as amended by Republic Act 9239 and RA 8293, Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. Police reports showed the items were owned by An-an Belontindos, 21, single, of Purok Narra-Baybay, Brgy. 2; Julie Puzon, 20, of Purok Santol, Brgy. Mandalagan; Bunso Padilla, 20, of Brgy. Taculing; Nappsia Manto, 28; Sultan Macaipit, 60, both of San Sebastian-Lerio streets; and Michael Matantug, 26, of Alunan Avenue, Brgy. 35, all in Bacolod City.

The items were seized from the Era Mall and Metro Plaza at Araneta Street, Bacolod City, police reports said.

SPO2 Eduardo Garcia said they are waiting for instruction from the Optical Media Board office in Manila City on the proper disposition of the items.*DMG
