Rape cases in NegOr up

Before the year ends, rape cases reported in the province could double from the figures recorded last year.

Records from the Provincial Police Office in Oriental Negros showed that 98 rape cases have already been reported to the Provincial Women and Children's Desk Office from January to November this year.

Last year, a total only 57 rape cases were reported.

It is possible that by the end of this year more rape cases would have been reported, said S/Insp. Rosalinda Abellon, Provincial Women and Children's desk officer at the Camp Fernandez Provincial Police Headquarters, Agan-an, Sibulan, Oriental Negros.

attend summit in Cebu City

The Coastal Resource Management Program in Lazi, Siquijor sent two agricultural technologists recently to the 1st National Marine Protected Area Summit in Cebu City.

Jean Villahermosa and Alreich Duran attended the summit to know the trends and future challenges in the local government's management of MPAs especially among local governments.

The municipalities of Cordova, Cebu of Mabini, Batangas and of Lanuza, Surigao del Sur hosted the activity.

GSIS to issue
e-Card Plus next year

The Government Service Insurance System e-Card will launch next year its GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (G-W@PS) for government employees in Oriental Negros.

The program were also launched in Siquijor recently.

The second generation GSIS e-Card, called the e-Card Plus will replace the old GSIS e-Card issued in 2004.

Local GSIS Acting Technical Assistant Larry Lee Alcaide said the schedule of enrollment of government employees in Oriental Negros for the e-Card Plus is set between January and March 2007.
