Six students were winners of an on-the-spot painting
contest at the Panaad Stadium, as part of the ongoing Paskwa sa
Panaad 2006, a press release from the Capitol said yesterday.
In the category A, which is for 7 to 15 year
old participants, Jean Padilla of Medel National High School placed
first; Eliz Lyka Huelar of Bacolod Tay Tung High School ranked second,
and Victorino Alcala II of University of St. La Salle Integrated
School ranked third.
In the Category B, which is for the 16 to 25
year old is Erika Sales Diaz of Negros Occidental Science High School
ranked first, and Guinevere Decena of La Consolacion College and
Chino Sandico of the Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School placed
second and third, respectively.
Judges were Lim Guan Jr., Ma. Azucena Araneta,
and Pengar Louie Guanzon.
Contest coordinators were Music and Arts Supervisor
Grace Darling Viterbo and Provincial School Board Secretary Rosanna
Anasarias of DepEd Negros Occidental.
The winners received P5,000, P3,000, and P2,000
for the first, second and third placers, respectively in both categories,
while the rest of the participants got P500 each as consolation
prizes.
The contest theme was "Christmas in my Hometown"
and the participants were given three hours to paint using oil pastel
on an illustration board, the press release said.
Winners in the Christmas dance showdown were the
group from Escalante - first, Bacolod City College - second, and
Sagay City - third, the Capitol press release added.*

Concert
set at seminary
The Sacred Heart Seminary is staging a Christmas
concert entitled "Handog: SHS Fulfilling Dreams at 60" at the Pope
John Paul II Cultural Center, featuring the seminarians and some
of their original compositions.
The matinee show is set at 2:30 p.m. on Dec.
16 and the gala shows are at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 16 at the SHS,
a press release from Fr. Jude Serfino said yesterday.
The concert is for the benefit of the ongoing restoration
of the JP II Cultural Center and for the ongoing formation of the
seminarians, the press release said. Those who wish to buy tickets
