All for the family

NOUS DE NEG OR

"Kapamilya's" courtship of Dumaguete continued on to the second year. For weeks the "teaser" and "come-ons" went from once daily, to almost hourly, and on prime time slots at that. Yes dearies, ABS-CBN was mounting their brand of provincial family entertainment, the "Kapamilya Fiesta," right smack in the heart of the city, and this held everyone, well almost, spellbound, oozing with anticipation. You know how Pinoys love showbiz, especially in this "neck of the woods" where it is scarce. The big day came right after the kiddies gobbled their fair share of candies, make-up erased; costumes stored away, candles lit and flowers withered on the newly cleaned graves, and familial ghosts were finally allowed to return to their eternal rest; the day after "Todos Los Santos."

Head honcho from the main office Michelle Ku and her energetic groupie and Central Visayas manager Tata Sy and her equally efficient crew arrived early to set up the festive atmosphere in the Freedom Park. As early as 8:00 a.m. of the big day, throngs of the disadvantaged gathered to take advantage of the medical mission and livelihood fair. Humanity from all walks of life stood in line to register for the games and its juicy prizes. Kiddies frolicked on the inflatable rides. The main afternoon attraction was the variety show starring the mega love team from PBB Teen Edition, drop dead gorgeous heartthrob Gerald Anderson and pretty, talented "China Doll" Kim Chiu, who sang and danced to everyone's utter delight; the screams and fan fare was deafening. "Boom-Tarat-Tarat" was sang and danced over and over. Neda was a marvelous host and kept all entertained.

Horror flick "Feng Shui" was shown for a change of pace and in anticipation of the big M. O. R. concert headlining Bamboo and his band. Rockers bobbed their heads and shook their bodies to the dizzying strains of the rock idol's "Halleluiah." In between rock groups was a beer drinking contest and a "sing todo lakas" segment of ABI, ably hosted by over very own talent Tyrone Tejam and DJ Pamela. And the fun continued on until everyone dropped from sweet exhaustion. Well, almost!

Really dahlings, the "Kapamilys Fiesta" is really all for the family and the Dumaguete gig proved it. Courtship is accepted and you are undoubtedly the number one network in these parts. Come back soon! We love you!. NOUS!*
