Another bloodletting
activity set next year

Bacolod Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said the urban poor groups in Bacolod City plan to hold another blood letting activity next year due to the low turn out of donors Thursday at the BAYS Center.

The blood letting activity Thursday was in line with the weeklong celebration of the Urban Poor Solidarity Week that ended Saturday.

Sayson, chairperson of the Urban Poor, Housing and Resettlement, said only 35 persons out of the more than 40 who have responded were qualified to donate blood for the benefit of the urban poor communities in the city.

He said the Philippine National Red Cross has suggested that they conduct their next blood letting activity during weekends so there will be more donors. Sayson said the donated blood will be turned over by PNRC to the Federation of Homeowners Association of Bacolod City under the Bacolod Housing Authority. Only their members can avail of the stock, he said.

He said the financial assistance extended by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to the associations that have good performance under the BHA will help very much in the requirements needed in their areas like the construction of foot walks and lighting facilities.

Sayson said that together with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, they have addressed the concerns of the urban poor regarding relocation site, site development and acquisition of public land.

Meanwhile, interview for pipe fitters, scafolders, carpenters and welders needed for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be held today at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration at Araneta-Alunan streets, Bacolod City.*CGS
