Schools kick off
2nd ICT Fair today

The 2nd Bacolod City Information and Communications Technology Educational Fair will open at 11 a.m. today at the Fountain Area of Robinsons Place Bacolod.

The three-day event, organized by the Bacolod IT Focus Team and the IT Schools Network, will serve as a venue for schools to promote ICT courses and educate the public of the prospects and impact of the ICT industry especially on job and investments generation, a press release from the organizers said.

Participating schools are University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas, West Negros College, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, La Consolacion College and La Salle College-Victorias.

Others are Aptech Computer Center, VMA Global College, ABE International College of Business and Economics, AMA Computer College, IMPACT and MTC Academy, STI College, and Lasaltech.

The ICT Fair will feature exhibits and hands-on activities, special lectures on ICT-related topics, actual simulation and demonstration for wi-fi and VOIP services, inter-school ICT quiz, on-the-spot web page design, and inter-call center competitions.

The organizers said their partner-agencies are the provincial offices of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and Department of Trade and Industry, MITCS-Bacolod and the Office of Councilor Batapa-Sigue.

The event is supported by Bayantel, Microsoft Philippines, Techno One, Star of Asia, Globelines, EMCOR, Robinsons Place Bacolod, Teletech, i-Solutions Outsource Asia and Focus Pacific, the press release added.*
