Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella yesterday said he has filed a
resolution calling on the House Committee on Civil Service and Professional
Regulation to conduct an investigation in aid of legislation of
the irregularities that reportedly occurred during the June 11-12
nursing board examination.
The inquiry should also look into the justification of the
decisions of the Philippine Regulatory Commission and the Philippine
Nursing Association to have the examinees sworn in as registered
nurses and the action of other parties to block such, he said. The
PNA deans of nursing schools and subjects of the nursing profession
are questioning the integrity of the PRC, the agency supposed to
be charged with the regulation of professionals, after the exposé
of the alleged leakages in the June 11-12 examinations, Puentevella
said in Resolution 1356.
If these allegations are proven to be true, the good standing
of our professionals, particularly the nurses who are considered
the biggest dollar earners, will be put under suspicion, he said.
"Affected nursing examinees who had nothing to do with the
leakage allegations are being made to suffer for the actions of
a selected group of recipients of the leakage. Determining the examinees
who made use of this leakage is close, if not impossible to do so,"
he said.
The hearings in aide of legislation are aimed at amending the
composition and tenure of the PRC Board Members, the rationalization
of test questions for all types of licensure examinations, and to
pave the way for the official swearing in of the examinees, he said.*CPG
