The deadline for the submission of entries for the Negros Occidental
Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association's 26th
Season is set today at the University of St. La Salle Varsity Sports
Office in Bacolod City.
NOPSSCEA Sports Task Force chairman Roger Banzuela said that
30 schools have signified their intention to participate in the
annual competition that is being staged in the elementary, high
school and collegiate levels. The USLS athletes are expected to
lead the field as they gun for their 18th consecutive overall championship
in the hostilities that will kick off on Sept. 23 at the USLS Coliseum.
Screening committee chairman Ericson Rios, sports director
of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, said that the
screening in all levels except in the 10-Under and aspirants categories
will begin Saturday.
La Salle's Malot Lozada, who is the deputy chairman of Banzuela
in the collegiate hostilities of the school-based meet, will also
serve as the deputy chairperson of the screening committee. Banzuela
said a technical meeting between the tournament managers and coaches
of competing schools will be held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 1. *CIT
