The city of Kabankalan outranked two urbanized cities and 13 others in Region 6 in net income, the Commission on Audit Financial Report for 2005 disclosed.

Kabankalan posted a net income of P109.52 million to rank 32nd among 117 cities in the country, a press release from the city government said.

The city's gross income amounted to P398,888,000, placing third after the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo.

Kabankalan is the only component city in Western Visayas that made it to the ranks of urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod, whose total assets hit the P1 billion mark at P1,246,833,000.

Kabankalan Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr. said the city is "adhering to sound financial management to promote transparency and accountability."

The COA, meanwhile, has developed and institutionalized the new government accounting system in Kabankalan to ensure timely and accurate reports, the press release added..*
