13-year-old boy needs
ultrasound, medicines

The mother of a 13-year-old boy from Jalandon, Brgy. 6, Bacolod City is asking for help for the ultrasound and medicines he needs after being diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome associated with cough and fever, at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in the city.

Anita Planta, 37, mother of Tommy, 4, said her son is set to undergo ultrasound today and she needs money for medicines, and for other laboratory tests.

She added that Tommy is suffering from swelling of the face, both arms, and lower extremities which, according to physicians, are manifestations of a problem in the kidney.

Aside from Tommy, she said she has two other children - a 21-year-old married daughter and a 12-year-old son. She also said that her income as a laundrywoman is not enough, and she is alone to care for her children since her husband died in 1996. Any help for Tommy may be coursed through the DAILY STAR office.*
