Cops to tighten security
at call center areas in city

Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced yesterday said he has directed his men to conduct visibility patrol at call center areas in Bacolod City to preempt crimes, especially during nighttime.

Merced said he has directed Chief Insp. Armando Tubongbanua, chief of the City Mobile Group, to intensify patrol operations near call centers such as Tele Tech at Robinson's Metro, Brgy. Singcang-Airport; I/O Asia at Lopues East, Brgy. Villamonte; Teleperformance at the Bacolod Convention Plaza Hotel in Brgy. Taculing; and Focus Communication at STI building at 21st-Lacson streets, all in Bacolod City.

He said he discussed the matter with call center operators at the Bacolod police headquarters Thursday.

The operators expressed concern over the security of their employees particularly those assigned in night shifts, Merced said. They also requested visibility patrols in the immediate and adjacent vicinities of the centers during nighttime, he added. Merced said call center operators should feel safe and secure while working, so more of them will come to Bacolod City to open their businesses.* DMG
