Negrenses with information technology or IT skills are wanted
by business process outsourcing companies in Bacolod City.
Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chairperson of the Bacolod
IT Focus Team, said in a press release yesterday the IT Team and
representatives from the academe and private sector discussed the
need for more workers during their meeting last week with executives
of two companies now operating in Bacolod.
She said Raymund Nones, in-charge of Bacolod operations of
Solegy, a leading VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) software firm
in the US, said they are looking for software developers skilled
in Java and C++, systems administrators, technical support engineers
and web/multi-media designers.
Solegy president, Eric Hernaez, a Negrense, had earlier assured
their company's support for the city's efforts to educate the public
about the trends in software and systems development industry, Batapa-Sigue
said.
Another company looking for workers is Teleperformance, an
international call center company, which just opened its base at
the Bacolod Convention Plaza Hotel which it needs technical support
representatives.
Jheanette Velandria of Teleperformance said applicants must have
technical knowledge or background in computers as well as good communication
skills, she added.*
