The clash between reigning titlist University of St. La Salle
and West Negros College in Division 1 of the men's open would have
to wait another week as all games in the NOFA Provincial Football
Championships have been postponed to next week.
Dennis Estaniel, chairman of the NOFA Referees Committee,
told the DAILY STAR that all matches in the provincial eliminations
have been moved because of the bad weather.
"The venues are not in good playing condition because of the
bad weather throughout the week so we need to postpone the games.
We don't want to risk the health of the players," he said.
The men's open clash between USLS and last year's runner-up
WNC was supposed to be played at the Paglaum Sports Complex pitch
tomorrow, a day after their U-19 squads collide in Division 1 at
the same venue.
Both USLS, coached by Freddie Lazarito, and the Norman Fegidero-mentored
Wesnecans have strengthened their teams with reinforcements from
Cebu, Manila and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The La Salle booters demolished University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos,
4-0, last week, while Fegidero scored two goals last week to lead
West Negros in trampling UNO-R, 5-0.
The games that have been postponed in men's open division
2 set tomorrow at Paglaum are the Bago City Football Club-Bacolod
United FC and Sta. Clara FC-Himamaylan City FC encounters.
The other match scheduled in division 1 of the U-19 hostilities
today that will be played next week is the game between UNO-R and
Bago.
Supposed to see action in division 2 at the USLS pitch are Pontevedra
FC facing Handumanan United; Celta de Victorias FC taking on USLS-Integrated
School; Negros Occidental High School battling Cadiz City FC, and
Kabankalan FC tussling with Sagay City FC. *CIT
