Po's bows to Lotus;
Kuppa checks skid

Lotus Neo Ballpen held off a late surge by Po's Marketing to snap its six-game winning streak with a 78-74 victory in the 2nd Conference of the Fil-Sino Inter-color Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Peter Galon connected on a jump shot and Chibon Uy added another free-throw connection with 30 seconds left in the game to give Lotus a 78-71 buffer after Arvin Gustilo narrowed the gap to 71-75 by hitting a pair of free throws with 1:30 remaining.

Trailing 54-68 in the fourth quarter, Bol Manaloto connected on two three-point attempts to spearhead an 8-0 spurt by Po's, trimming Lotus' advantage to 68-62, but Galon hit his opportunities from the charity stripe to keep them at bay

. Meanwhile, Kuppa Coffee and Tea ended its five-game losing streak with an 85-56 demolition of Blue Mexican.

Kuppa relied on its balanced offensive attack in the third quarter, with nine of its cagers scoring at least 2 points, to establish a 59-47 buffer at the end of the period after only having a 31-30 lead at halftime.

Kuppa unloaded six three-pointers in the payoff period with Jan Jan Young anchoring the onslaught, canning three three-point shots to seal the victory for his squad. Kuppa and Blue Mexican are tied in the team standings with 3-5 slates.

Point guard Aaron Guevarra led Kuppa's offense with 16 points, while Young finished with 14 markers. Backstopping them was Christian Lladoc, pouring in 11 points.

Also posting solid numbers for Kuppa were Dixon Chiu and Garret Tabanao with 10 points each, while Albert Li had 8 markers.

Simon Guevarra topscored for Blue Mexican with 17 markers, while Joshua Chua and Christopher Tan contributed 16 and 11 points, respectively.

Lotus, which grabbed solo third at 3-3, was spearheaded by Eisen Uy with 12 points as Chibon Uy had 11 markers. Ronan Soyao and Galon ended up with 10 markers, while Glenn Ortaliz added 9 points.

Pacing Po's was Manaloto with 20 points, while Gustilo and Arnold Betita finished with 12 and 7 markers, respectively. *CIT
