Barias -- No reshuffling
at province, city PNP yet

Contrary to reports, there will be no reshuffling yet of senior police officers occupying key positions in Negros Occidental, Chief Supt. Geary Barias, regional police director of Western Visayas, said yesterday.

He, however, said he will effect some minor changes in his regional staff at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.

Reports said earlier that Senior Supt. Charles Calima, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, and Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, director of the Bacolod City Police Office, may be transferred.

Barias, who has been regional police chief of Western Visayas for barely nine days, said he does not see the transfers of Calima and Merced in the near future.

He, however, confirmed the designation of Senior Supt. LazaroTorcita, who used to command the Task Force Waterfront he dissolved in Iloilo upon his assumption of the PRO 6 command, as the incoming Adminisrative and Personnel Division chief of the Western Visayas police.

Barias also said he will leave to the discretion of the provincial and city police directors in Region 6 whether or not to make changes in leadership in their commands.

Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, former provincial police director of Antique, was designated recently as headquarters commandant of the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo.*GPB

Baker killed in collision

A baker was killed when his motorcycle collided with a Fuso Canter past 3 a.m. Thursday along the national highway in Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan, Oriental Negros.

Investigators identified the victim as Ricky Bojos, married of Barangay Tampi in San Jose, and a baker in one of the shops in Dumaguete, and the truck driver as Felicisimo Saycon, of Barangay Ilaya, Tanjay City.

Bojos was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City.

Saycon told the police the truck he was driving was carrying loads of mango from Tanjay City on the way to Dumaguete, passing through Agan-an, and he did not see the motorcycle approaching because its headlight was off.

At that time Bojos was off-duty and returning home from Dumaguete, police report said. He said it was too late for him to maneuver the truck when the motorcycle suddenly appeared and the crash, resulted throwing the motorist to the asphalt road.*RG
