COA turns over
e-NGAS to San Carlos

The Commission on Audit recently conducted an exit conference and turnover ceremony on the installation of an Electronic New Government Accounting System at San Carlos City, a press release from COA said.

The program, which started on May 23, was conducted through the Government Accountancy and Financial Management Information System. The software was installed at the City Accounting and Information and Communication Technology offices, it said.

The e-NGAS is an accounting software developed by the COA to ensure correctness, reliability, completeness and timeliness in recording government financial transactions and to generate financial reports in accordance with the policies and procedures of the New Government Accounting System, the press release said.

With its installation, the city is expected to improve its agency management decision making; ensure more efficient operations and effective controls; generate more analytical management reports for better control and accountability; enable real time generation of reports; pinpoint responsibility and accountability; and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, it said. COA officials present were director Perlegio Paderes, regional cluster director Maria Gleda Lim, assistant cluster director Sheila Villa, and regional administrator Rizalde Dizon, the press release said.

Present also were Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Francisco Tolcidas, administrator and project coordinator, and Ana Marie Ando, acting accountant, it said.

The COA roll-out team was headed by Lim, team supervisor, with Rey Cababasay as team leader and Perico Hernaez, audit team leader, and Leah Illusorio and Reena Quimba as members, the press release added.*
