The members of the Education and Training Center School delegation leave for the United States this morning to compete in the 2006 Junior League World Series in Kirkland, Washington.

The ETCS delegation's departure comes a day after another World Series-bound team, Domingo Lacson National High School, returned to Bacolod City. The DLNHS contingent, which was supposed to fly to the United States for the Senior League World Series in Delaware, failed to secure enough funds for their tickets (see page 1 for related story).

Lagrimas Ciokon, a member of the ETCS coaching staff, said members of the delegation received their visas from the US Embassy Monday.

A Canada-based Filipino coach will conduct a swimming seminar for coaches and parents from Aug. 25-27 at the Alicia Hall of Sta. Fe Resort in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.

Wilfred Arzaga, a former Philippine Team swimmer and member of the national squad coaching staff, will hold the seminar to update the coaches and parents on the latest developments in the sport.

Rafael Nava, secretary of host Sta. Fe Aquatics-Negros Swimming Association, said that the seminar will also be a venue for the swimmers, clubs and coaches to register themselves with the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association.

The men and women's squads of LA Showtime posted resounding wins over their University of St. La Salle counterparts yesterday in the 3rd Annual LA Showtime Basketball Goodwill Games at the USLS College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

The LA Showtime men's team trounced the USLS Stingers of coach Troy Sarabia, 63-51, while its women's squad routed the cagebelles of La Salle, 76-22.

Capitalizing on their height and heft, the male dribblers of LA Showtime, mentored by Romeo Convento, established a 14-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter behind center William Scott Domingo, who amassed 10 points in the period.
