PUJ driver stabbed dead
2 COMPANIONS INJURED IN COMMOTION
A jeepney driver was stabbed dead, while his two
companions were wounded in a melee at an eatery at Libertad Street
in Bacolod City at about 2 a.m. yesterday.
Rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial
Regional Hospital were Johnny Pasumala Tabo-tabo of Brgy. Malatas,
Calatrava, Negros Occidental with fatal head injuries. Tabo-tabo
was later declared dead by the attending physician, Senior Insp.
Jonathan Lorilla, Precinct 6 commander, yesterday said.
Meanwhile, Tabo-tabo's companions Joselito Bolano
Santillan, 41 and Rommel Salumag Mahinay, 33, also of Brgy. Malatas,
Calatrava were also rushed to the CLMMRH with stab wounds.
Initial reports showed Tabo-tabo, Santillan and
Mahinay were drinking liquor at Linda's Refreshment and refused
to pay their bills, Lorilla said. The commotion started when Tabo-tabo
reportedly threw an empty bottle of beer, hitting an unidentified
customer, Lorilla said.
He said they are still investigating the person
or persons who stabbed Tabo-tabo dead and injured Santillan and
Mahinay. He said he believes their assailants were bystanders or
customers.
Meanwhile, PO3 Edgar Allan de Guzman and his companions,
all detailed at Police Precinct 1 apprehended five persons who were
also engaged in another commotion at Burgos-Gatuslao streets in
Bacolod City at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday.
Arrested were Rey Guaran Santiago, Wendell Bohos
Abartez, and Joel Castillo Delgado, 21, all of Purok Kasing-Kasing,
Brgy. 10; Florentino Hagasa Dubio, 31, of Galo-Gatuslao streets,
Brgy. 12, and Mark Dueno Leomar, 22, of Brgy. 11, all in Bacolod
City, police reports said.
The five were believed to be under the influence
of intoxicating liquor and had created alarm and scandal in the
area, police reports said. Dubio sustained an injury on his left
leg and right arm allegedly inflicted by Delgado with a 30-inch
steel pipe, police reports said.
Aside from the steel pipe, the police also recovered
a 12-inch bladed weapon from Abartez. The five are now detained
in the lock-up cell of Precinct 1 for alarm and scandal and violation
of City Ordinance 358, or illegal possession of deadly weapon, police

Bacoleņos held up
by 'passengers'
Two drivers reported that they were held up by two
unidentified persons who posed as passengers in Bacolod City Sunday
and yesterday.
Tricycle driver Ronald Fernandez Pabon, 32, married,
of Purok Hollow Blocks, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, told
the police that two unidentified persons flagged him down at Bangga
Alijis and ordered him to bring them to the ACCO Housing in Brgy.
Mansilingan, Senior Insp. Jonathan Lorilla said yesterday.
When they reached the place, Pabon said one of
the suspects poked a .38 caliber revolver at his neck and forcibly
took his wallet containing P200 in cash, while the other suspect
sprayed teargas on his face.
The hold-uppers took Pabon's tricycle and left
him in the area, Lorilla said.
The police later recovered the sidecar of Pabon's
tricycle that was abandoned by the suspects beside the road in Purok
Cabugwason, Brgy. Mansilingan at about 7 a.m. yesterday, Lorilla
said.
Meanwhile, Wilfredo Gonzaga, a taxi driver, of
Rosario Heights, Brgy. Taculing reported to Police Precinct 8 that
two unidentified persons also flagged him down at the corner of
San Sebastian-Smith streets and told him to bring them to Brgy.
Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, Insp. Danilo Francisco, Precinct 8 commander,
yesterday said.
Gonzaga told the police his "passengers", both
armed with knives, declared a hold-up when they reached Purok Acacia,
Brgy. Pahanocoy. The suspects took his P800 in collection, he said.
Meanwhile, Lovella Ditchon, 29, single, of the Juvy's
Dormitory at Mercedes Avenue, Bacolod City reported to Precinct
6 that an unidentified person snatched her bag while she was walking
along Carmen Avenue at about 10 p.m. Sunday, police reports said.
Ditchon said that her bag contained P80 in cash and personal belongings,
