'Talk of yesterday,
party of today'
To rekindle talk of good old times, of the frivolities of our youth,
when life was simple and fun, haciendera Inday Maitos Aldeguer wined
and dined long time Bais residents -- now Madrid populace Jaime
and Luisa Yoldi Domingo, formerly from Bacolod Eduardo and Pilar
Yoldi Bonnin, Merche Berricano and Maria Jesus Fernandez -- in her
well-kept manor in Hacienda Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
Joining the sometime social and oftentimes political chit-chat
were ever-charming sisters Nena and Anna Maria Gonzalvez, Señora
Nena Aldeguer, Chiqui and Marissa Yoldi and "moi".
The intimate groupie lauded Inday Maitos' home cooking of cool
shrimp and cucumber salad, roast pork with mushroom gravy, baked
fish in black bean sauce, fresh lumpia ubod, and lechon cooked in
her back yard, and sinful mini cakes for the sweet toothed. All
this vittles were downed by choice Spanish red wine and good old
favorite San Mig lights. "Hurry back!" was the parting words of
the convivial crowd.
The Tanjay City annual fiesta celebration is always a blazing
time of the year in these parts of NegOr. This year was extra special
with events like the motocross graced by Gov. Mark Lapid, the Search
for Tanjay epitome of beauty lass, this year made extra special
with the presence of glamorous villainess in the popular teleserie
"Bituin Walang Ningning," Angelika de la Cruz, the Saulog Dance
Festival, and the phenomenally successful staging by impresario
Tyrone Tejam and his man friday Jayson Bayona of the "Bamboo" Concert
at the Salma Auditorium which was filled to the rafters with humanity
from all walks of life.
The band was composed of lead singer Francis "Bamboo" Mañalac,
Ira Cruz (guitar), Nathan Azarcon (base) and Vic Mercado (drums)
emerged as the most decorated band at the recently concluded MTV
19th Awit Awards among their peers - collecting five awards in various
major categories. Frankly dahlings, (call me jaded), but I didn't
understand the lyrics that the handsome Bamboo was belting out.
It must have been good 'cause the multitudes "ate every vowel and
syllable with a passion." His musical energy, rage and anger drove
them to near nirvana. His antics on stage, "jumping, bopping of
head in wild frenzy and throwing of mike stand" is a far cry from
the real persona which we had the opportunity to meet pre-show.
Bamboo is a gentleman in every sense of the word.
Amiable to a tee! Oh well, ask me if I'll go and see them in concert
again….I'll probably say yes, they were amusing. The "elixir of
youth" is always refreshing.
And that my dears was my week of contrasts, how was yours? . .
. NOUS!
