Bacolod Tay Tung High School and the Stallions defeated their respective opponents over the weekend to share the lead in the 2nd Basketball Unified Sports Group-Sharp Cup 17-Under Tournament at the Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

BTTHS tripped Mansilingan Christian Academy, 90-84, Saturday before posting an impressive 83-61 win against St. Benilde School yesterday for a share of the top spot with a 2-0 slate.

The Stallions, comprised of players from Pueblo Rosario-Eroreco, scored a 72-60 victory over SBS, mentored by Christian Escote, Saturday to have a share of the lead.

Meanwhile, defending champion University of St. La Salle split its first two assignments in the seven-team tournament that has adopted a double-round robin format.

The Baby Stingers of coach Leo Casinillo drubbed University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 107-70, Saturday, before being stunned by MCA, 87-92, yesterday.

Against St. Benilde, the Tay Tung cagers of coach Gerome Aledron raced to a 24-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter behind the 6 points of swingman John Francis Espina.

BTTHS, last year's losing finalist, continued to rely in its balanced offensive attack in the second half to put the game away after establishing a comfortable 39-17 buffer at halftime. Ralph Uy poured in 19 points to spearhead Tay Tung's charge, while forward Chris Sibaya contributed 10 markers.
