Region 7 tourism council
mulling to produce jingle
BY RENE GENOVE

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Mariant Escaño Villegas said that Central Visayas, or Region 7, will soon produce its own tourism jingle as Oriental Negros prepares for the hosting of the Regional Tourism Assembly in Dumaguete City on Sept. 2, 2006.

Villegas, chairperson of the SP Committee on Tourism and the Regional Tourism Council, said the assembly's agenda will focus, on the production of the jingle that will give equal exposure to their tourism potentials of Cebu, Bohol, Oriental Negros, and Siquijor.

Villegas said the jingle will be played in four provinces and during the Wow! Philippines exhibits next month. She recalled more than two years ago, the Department of Tourism did not include Oriental Negros in its television tourism production. Tourism regional director Patricia Roa also did not include the province in the itinerary of an American ambassador, the U.S. consul general, and attaché to tourism attractions in Central Visayas, she said.*RG
