Local companies continue to receive technical assistance from
the Japan External Trade Organization in evaluating their technology
levels.
The Department of Science and Technology said in its report
late last week that the assistance, under JETRO's Supporting Industries
Program, is extended in cooperation with the Philippine Die and
Mold Association and Metals Industry Research and Development Center.
The DOST said Michio Komatsu, a Japanese plastic moulding expert,
came to the Philippines early this year to share his expertise to
local plastic companies.
These are Ramcar Technology Inc., Samsonite Plastic Co.,
RCM Manufacturing Inc., Polymeric Industrial Corp., Premier Creative
Packaging Inc., Maximetal Industries Inc., Plastmann Industrial
Corp., Technomolds Inc., Armel Plastic Company Inc., San Miguel
Corp., Richardsons Tools and Machine Shop Inc., and Aries Technologies
Inc.
Fumio Yamaguchi, a metal stamping expert, also shared technical
guidance and consultations to metal stamping companies. The beneficiaries
were First Philippine Scales Inc., KEA Industrial Corp., Sankei
Philippines Inc., Works Bell Philippines Inc., Maximetal Industries
Inc., Fabricator Philippines Inc., Ambrose Industries, Optitech
Machine Tools, Albert Metalcraft Inc., Anvil Metalshop Corp., Earl
Metal and Plastic Parts Fabricator Inc., Roberts Automotive and
Industrial Parts Manufacturing Corp., Tri-R Allied Industries Inc.,
and HDM Technologies, Inc.
DOST said in its report that JETRO is extending assistance in
technology advancement to the local metal and plastic industry to
promote trade and investments between the Philippines and Japan.*
