Police nab pa, son
for alleged robbery
BY RENE GENOVE

The police here arrested a father and his son, but two others remain at-large, for the hold up of a barangay kagawad who was divested of his P49,000 and tied to a tree recently in Brgy. Pagatban, Bayawan City.

The first to fall was Hermogenes Quitay Sr., 53, who was arrested the next day following a police manhunt hours after four men held up an animal dealer and barangay San Miguel kagawad Rodrigo Rafols, 40, of his P49,000 and tying him to a tree later at about 9 p.m. Wednesday in Brgy. Pagatban.

During investigation, Quitay admitted the robbery and named his three accomplices that included his son, Hermogenes, Jr.

Police captured Quitay's son at 5 p.m. of the same day in Brgy. Manalongon, Sta. Catalina but the two other suspects, identified only as Tony and Rudy, remain at-large.

Rafols told investigators he was walking his carabao home that night when four men ambushed him near the Pagatban river. But the flashlight he was carrying lit on the face of one of the hold-uppers whom he immediately recognized as Hermogenes, Sr.

After taking his money, the four men tied him to a tree and left him.

The next day, the police received a report about the incident and rushed to the site where they found the kagawad still tied to the tree.

The Regional Trial Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Quitay's two other companions who are still at large. Both father and son were charged with robbery.*RG
