Lacson, ETCS girls
gun for RP crowns

Getting a huge lift from its standout pitcher, the combined squad of Domingo Lacson National High School and Education Training School International Little League of Manila took Game 1of its virtual best-of-three title series with a 9-1 triumph in the Junior League (13-14) competition in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

Veronica Belleza typified the Bacolod-based squad's tenacity as she struck out 10 batters in a seven-inning job but it was her fine batting form that also fuelled the victory.

Belleza, a veteran of two Little League World Series tournaments, followed up her solo homerun in the third inning with a two-run homer in the fifth, where the DLNHS-ETCS team scored four runs. Nerissa Benjamin also had a solo homerun in the fifth inning for DLNHS-ETCS, which can clinch the crown and a World Series berth if they beat ILLAM again today.
