Man nabbed for marijuana
A Bacolod resident was arrested by the Bacolod police
for alleged possession of dried marijuana leaves in a buy-bust operation
in Brgy. 40, Bacolod City, at about 11:30 p.m. yesterday.
Eric Montecastro, 33, married, of Brgy. 40 was
apprehended by the Bacolod City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation
Task Group when he handed 10 dried marijuana cigarets to a police
poseur-buyer in exchange for P100 in marked money, SPO1 Nelson Grijado,
CAIDSOTG team leader told the DAILY STAR. Martin Javellana Jr.,
25, who happened to be at Montecatro's residence, was also arrested
by the police for alleged possession of five live bullets of a .22
caliber firearm, Grijaldo said.
Recovered from Montecastro who was allegedly
re-packing dried marijuana leaves during the operation, were an
undetermined quantity of dried marijuana leaves, several pieces
of rolled paper, pairs of scissors, P150 in cash and P100 in marked
money, police reports said. Montecastro and Javellana are now detained
in the lock-up cell of the Bacolod police office while charges for
violation of sections 5,11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive
Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 8294, or illegal possession
of ammunition are being readied against them, police reports said.
Meanwhile, Jail Officer 2 Karen Dapat intercepted
Tuesday an improvised tooter from a pocket of Janet Nobleza, 30,
of Purok Azucena, Brgy. 6 during an inspection at the Bacolod District
jail, police reports also said.
Nobleza was about to visit a detainee when the
shabu paraphernalia was recovered from her, police reports said.
Charges for violation of section 12 of Republic Act
9165 were been filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against
Nobleza Wednesday, police reports also said.*DMG
