A Bacolod resident was arrested by the Bacolod police for alleged possession of dried marijuana leaves in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 40, Bacolod City, at about 11:30 p.m. yesterday.

Eric Montecastro, 33, married, of Brgy. 40 was apprehended by the Bacolod City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group when he handed 10 dried marijuana cigarets to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P100 in marked money, SPO1 Nelson Grijado, CAIDSOTG team leader told the DAILY STAR. Martin Javellana Jr., 25, who happened to be at Montecatro's residence, was also arrested by the police for alleged possession of five live bullets of a .22 caliber firearm, Grijaldo said.

Recovered from Montecastro who was allegedly re-packing dried marijuana leaves during the operation, were an undetermined quantity of dried marijuana leaves, several pieces of rolled paper, pairs of scissors, P150 in cash and P100 in marked money, police reports said. Montecastro and Javellana are now detained in the lock-up cell of the Bacolod police office while charges for violation of sections 5,11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 8294, or illegal possession of ammunition are being readied against them, police reports said.

Meanwhile, Jail Officer 2 Karen Dapat intercepted Tuesday an improvised tooter from a pocket of Janet Nobleza, 30, of Purok Azucena, Brgy. 6 during an inspection at the Bacolod District jail, police reports also said.

Nobleza was about to visit a detainee when the shabu paraphernalia was recovered from her, police reports said.
