Grenade explodes:
Kills 2, injures 4
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A manhunt is on for an ex-convict blamed for the recent grenade explosion in Sitio Campayas, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, which claimed the lives of two persons and injured four others.

The grenade explosion on Saturday led to the deaths of Rolly Orcojada, 17, and Rommel Julaton, 15, nephews of Ronil Orcojada who was held responsible for their deaths.

Himamaylan police investigators identified the four injured as Edna Orcojada,46 ,and her children, Lord, 22, Jerry, 21 and Jane, 19.

Police investigations show that Ronil, an ex-convict, accidentally pulled the safety lever of his fragmentation grenade, and quickly threw it at the house of his sister-in-law, Edna.

Ronil was under the influence of liquor when the incident took place, the police said.

Himamaylan police chief Milko Lirazan, in his report to Senior Supt. Charles Calima, said the explosion immediately killed Rolly, while Julaton died at the Valeriano Gatuslao District Hospital in Himamaylan City.

Ronil was nowhere to be found after the grenade exploded, the police said.

Meanwhile, a 46-year-old laborer was apprehended by a barangay official after he allegedly stabbed to death his wife on Saturday in Brgy. Langub, Escalante City.

The victim who sustained multiple stab wounds in the different parts of her body, was identified by the police as Marilou Demafilez, 35.

Inspector Mateo Maguate, Escalante police chief, in his report to Calima, said the incident was triggered by a heated argument.

Juanito who was arrested by the Langub Brgy. Capt. Eduardo Raboy and Kagawad Eduardo Ojoylan, is now detained at the Escalante police station jail.*GPB
