Otso Oros gang victim
found in shallow grave
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The skeletal remains of a person suspected to be a military and police informant, who was summarily executed allegedly by members of the Otso Oros Gang last year, was found yesterday in a shallow grave in Hacienda Binunga, Brgy. Guinhalaran, Silay City.

Silay police chief Celestino Guara said the victim of summary execution was identified as Abelardo Ablong, an ambulant vendor of figurines and a resident of Purok Lison, Brgy. 1, Bacolod City.

Guara said Ablong was positively identified by his brother, Arthur, through his T-shirt.

Police investigations show Ablong was reported missing by his family members and relatives in August last year.

Guara said there was an indication that Ablong was hogtied and reportedly hacked with a samurai by his executioners, before he was buried in the sugarcane field of Hacienda Binunga.

As examined by the Silay police, the skull of Ablong also bore a hole.

Police records show that Silay policemen figured in a clash with Otso Oros Gang members in the hacienda. Pursuit operations made by the police led to another encounter in Talisay City, which claimed the lives of five Otso Oros Gang members in September last year.*GPB
