| The Commission on Audit is conducting a 5-day Functional-Technical
Training on the Electronic New Government Accounting System for Bacolod City government
employees at Pearl Manor that started yesterday. The eNGAS
is a simplified set of accounting concepts, guidelines and procedures designed
to ensure correctness, completeness and timeliness in the recording of government
financial reports, a press release from City Hall said. Bacolod
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the seminar is an important innovation in the accounting
system of the city government for more efficient public service.
The 5-day training was conducted for employees from the Office of the City Accountant,
City Budget Office, Management Information Technical and Computer Services, and
Office of the City Treasurer, as well as their staff. The
training is being facilitated by State Auditor V Editha Ramirez and State Auditor
II Ma. Francisca Medialdea of COA Central Office in Quezon City; Administrative
Officer V Rey Cababasay of COA Region VI in Iloilo City; Regional Cluster Director
Ma. Gleda Lim; State Auditor 3 Perico Hernaez; State Auditor 2 Joseph Francis
Santos of COA; and the LGS cluster in Negros Occidental, the press release added.*

agility contest held
The 2nd Panaad National Dog Agility Competition was held Sunday at the Panaad
Sports Stadium, in Bacolod City, which was highlighted by canine extreme games
on a wall scale and a super weave exhibition, a press release from the Negros
Occidental Veterinarian's Office said yesterday. A total
of 28 entries in two categories - the Advance and Starter divisions - participated
in the event, it also said. A beagle named "Gabby" of a Bacolod
handler was champion in both categories. Other winners are,
in the Advance category: "Mocha" (mixed breed) by a Davaoeño handler and "Pawy,"
a schnawzer, also from Davao for the second and third places, respectively.
Placing second in the Starter division was "Fly" (labrador) by a Bacoleño handler
while an entry from General Santos, "Moymoy" (Jack Russel) was third, the press
release said. The judge for the contest was Kenneth Tash,
president of the United States Dog Agility Association, while show veterinarian
was Dr. Renante Decena, Negros Occidental veterinarian, the press release added.*
