DALO vows to conduct
more pickets vs. NLRC

Labor groups allied with the Democratic Alliance of Labor Organizations and Alab Katipunan vowed to continue holding protests after officials of the National Labor Relations Commission were a no-show when they held a picket in front of the NLRC Regional Arbitration Branch 6 office in Bacolod City yesterday.

DALO Chairperson Alan Gozon told the DAILY STAR that they hoped to have a dialog with Executive Labor Arbiter Danilo Acosta and Labor Arbiter Phibun Pura but they were instead entertained by Acosta's assistant and by the branch's administrative head.

The protestors, about 200 of them, lined up outside the building along Rosario Street, carrying placards, while several entered the NLRC office and waved the AK banner outside one of its windows.

Policemen from the City Mobile Group were deployed to monitor the protest action.

When DAILY STAR called up the NLRC office, a staff said Acosta was not around while Pura already left.

The protestors, who called for the removal of Acosta and Pura, are workers who have pending labor cases before the NLRC since 2000.

Gozon said that they have been complaining on the "very slow disposition of labor cases" by the NLRC RAB 6. Our members have hundreds of pending cases before the NLRC, he said.*NLG
