The Interim Federation of Irrigators' Association
of Bago River Irrigation System and the National Irrigation Administration-BRIS
in Bago City have agreed in a joint resolution to start water delivery and distribution
starting May 1.
Irrigation Superintendent I Dionisio Asencio
furnished Gov. Joseph Maraņon a copy of the joint resolution on April 12, while
the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist received its copy on April 17.
Last week, a farmer from Bago City complained that the NIA-BRIS has refused to
open the Lateral A and B portion of the irrigation system for three weeks beginning
April 10 to allow them to plan their first cropping before the start of its repair.

DALO
vows to conduct
more pickets vs. NLRC
Labor groups allied with the Democratic
Alliance of Labor Organizations and Alab Katipunan vowed to continue holding protests
after officials of the National Labor Relations Commission were a no-show when
they held a picket in front of the NLRC Regional Arbitration Branch 6 office in
Bacolod City yesterday.
DALO Chairperson Alan Gozon told
the DAILY STAR that they hoped to have a dialog with Executive Labor Arbiter Danilo
Acosta and Labor Arbiter Phibun Pura but they were instead entertained by Acosta's
assistant and by the branch's administrative head.
The protestors,
about 200 of them, lined up outside the building along Rosario Street, carrying
placards, while several entered the NLRC office and waved the AK banner outside
one of its windows.
