Lin-ay bets want to
be educators

They say that education is one of the most important aspects of a person's life and these 2006 Lin-ay Sang Negros contestants dream of helping to provide it someday.

Ms. Bago Sheena Grapes Gidalanon, a Bachelor of Elementary Education graduate of the Bago City College, said she took up BEED because she wishes to make a difference in the life of even just a child. Ms. Sipalay Raissa Ramos is a third year college student taking up a BEED cause at the Cabarrot Catholic College, while Ms. Silay Abigail Trabado acquired her Bachelor of Secondary Education degree from the West Visayas State University in Iloilo and is currently taking up her Masters Degree at the same institution.

The 20-year-old Gidalanon, who was crowned as BCC's Miss Campus Coed 2003 and Lin-ay Sang Bago 2005, said she joined Lin-ay Sang Negros because she believes that it is a good venue for showing her skills and knowledge. The 5'5" Gidalanon said she also loves to cook and dance. She is the daughter of Rodolfo and Eunelyn Gidalanon.

Ramos, the daughter of Noel and Monina Ramos, said she decided to participate in the pageant because she wants to develop her self-confidence. "The contest will also help me attain a better personality," she added. Ramos also said that drawing is her hobby.

The 21-year-old Trabado said she joined Lin-ay Sang Negros because she wants to promote Silay City. Trabado, the Lin-ay Sang Silay 2006, said she is also proud to have passed the teacher's board examination.

Trabado's father, Guido, is a marine chief engineer, while her mother, Eva, is an education supervisor I. She said that she also likes surfing the internet and dancing.

A total of 24 candidates will vie for the Lin-ay Sang Negros 2006 crown at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City. A pre-pageant and talent night will also be staged at Panaad on April 27. *CIT
