The case involving molestation of a minor was solved by the police with the arrest of a suspect in Brgy. Binicuil, Kabankalan City, about four hours after the crime was committed on Thursday.

City police chief Roderick Alba yesterday said rape suspect Fernando Tored, 30, was captured by PO1 Hernani Diwatin, PO2 Eddie Casuyon and PO1 Rune Bandola during a pursuit operation in Sitio Naga, Brgy, Binicuil, Kabankalan City.

Police investigations show that Tored, a "green shell vendor" and a Himamaylan resident, molested a minor whose identity is being withheld by the DAILY STAR, in a sugarcane field at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Tored who was positively identified by the minor victim as the person who had molested her, is now detained at the police station jail of Kabankalan City. Meanwhile, Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr. is slated to turn over six brand-new handheld radio sets to the Kabankalan City Police Station on April 24, to beef up the capability of policemen to communicate and respond to emergency situation.

Alba said the administration of Zayco also funded the renovation of the Kabankalan police headquarters, and the installation new water system.

Two more additional motorcycles for Kabankalan traffic policemen will soon arrive, also through the courtesy of Zayco and the city council, he added.*GPB
