Capitol not ruling
out legal action
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Negros Occidental provincial government will not rule out legal action against the Department of Education in its bid to rescind its donation to it of the Pagalaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City, Gov. Joseph Maraņon said yesterday.

If the DepEd committed violations of the terms of the deed of donation, the Capitol can take legal action but a process will have to be followed, he said.

One such violation is the DepEd's failure to develop and maintain the sports stadium, he said. However, while the DepEd had said in a letter to him that it was not returning the sport stadium, Maraņon said he was informed verbally by its officers that they are open to negotiation.

Maraņon said he has asked Provincial Schools Superintendent Eva Belicena to present a proposal of the provincial government on the development of sports stadium and hopes to get a reply from the DepEd within this month. We will act on the basis of the results of the mission of Belicena, the governor said.*CPG
