Ceres battles Sipalay
Five in NBA tilt

Powerhouse Ceres Liners aims to extend its winning streak to four games when it collides with Sipalay Stingers at 6 p.m. today at the start of the second round of the 2006 Negros Basketball Association-Mayor's Cup Summer Open Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

The Oscar Aquino-mentored Ceres squad completed a three-game sweep to lead the tournament after the first round, while Sipalay, coached by Rex Bayer, finished the first round with a 1-2 slate. Sipalay will take on a luckless JS Shell squad, bannered by University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos cagers, at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Former Negros Slashers Carlos Sayon and Leo Bat-og are expected to spearhead Ceres' attack together with ex-Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod standouts Christian Antiporda, Raymund Ilagan and Jhonson Salazar.

Adamson University stalwart Roel Hugnatan will most likely lead Sipalay as well as Rodel Canino and Arnold Laurenio. *CIT
