etch second wins

Barangays Taculing and Tangub trounced different opponents yesterday to score their second victories each in the 2006 Monico Cup Inter-Barangay Summer Basketball Tournament at the Brgy. Granada Gym in Bacolod City.

Taculing drubbed Brgy. 12, 69-55, in Bracket C, while the Allan Cabalhin-mentored Tangub cagers posted an impressive 59-35 triumph over Brgy. 3 in Bracket B. Also registering its second win yesterday was Brgy. Estefania, routing Brgy. 16, 78-63, as well as Brgy. Villamonte, which hammered Brgy. 39, 83-70. Brgy. Montevista barged into the win column after scoring a 79-72 triumph against Brgy. 10.

Taculing, coached by Nimier Nierves, established a comfortable 45-28 advantage at halftime against Brgy. 12 after Sherish Gango and John Cercado poured in 10 points each in the first half.

Sherish and Cercado finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively, to spearhead the victorious Taculing squad, while Ronald Despi contributed 8 markers.

Ryan Agena amassed 27 points in a losing cause for Brgy. 12 as Jun Legure chipped in 10 points.

Meanwhile, the Tangub stalwarts employed their stifling defense from the start to limit Brgy. 3 to a measly 16 points at intermission, while scoring 31 points of their own.

Powering Tangub's offensive attack was Martin Duff with 18 points, while Mark Bolivar added 10 points.
