Healthy graduates receive
certificates of recognition
Glowing beneficiaries of the "Ang Galing Mo Bata!"
feeding project of Cebuana Lhuiller recently received their diplomas
as healthy graduates of 2006, a Cebuana Lhuiller press release said
yesterday. These kids from three Day Care centers in Caloocan,
Antipolo and Pampanga also received their certificates of recognition
for being first to receive daily nourishment to fight malnutrition
in their areas.
A brainchild of Cebuana Lhuillier president Jean
Henri Lhuillier, the feeding program aims at helping alleviate problems
of malnutrition among Filipino kids, the press release said.
From initially providing daily snacks to kids
of Brilliant Minds Day Care Center in Caloocan, the program gradually
increased its beneficiaries to include pupils from Pulung Cacutud
in Pampanga, Sitio Culasisi in Antipolo and Iskul ni Bobby in Pasig
City, the press release also said. Everyday, volunteer employees
from Cebuana Lhuillier together with the Department of Social Welfare
and Development educators give these kids snacks or hot meals.
Aside from addressing their nutritional requirements,
the program has also helped encourage the children to regularly
go to school. These Day Care centers were carefully chosen by Cebuana
Lhuillier from among the hundreds in the list the DSWD. "Ang Galing
Mo, Bata!" is Cebuana Lhuillier's gift to Filipino kids. "Most of
the beneficiaries are from poor families, or those with no stable
or enough income," said Cebuana Lhuillier regional manager Barty
Espino IV, in the press release.* Claudette Almilla holds up her
