'Cattle rustler' apprehended
BY RENE GENOVE

A cattle-rustling suspect fell into police hands after a cow-owner and his worker caught him in the act of selling the stolen cattle last week in Brgy. Bagtik, Mabinay, Oriental Negros.

Arrested and later charged with violation of the Anti-Cattle Rustling Law was Marlex Bernadez, 29, a resident of Baktik.

A police report Tuesday said that Antonio Aboy and his worker Eddie Calidguid, both residents of Brgy. Bantolinao, Manjuyod had been looking for the white female cattle that was valued at P8,000 when they chanced on the suspect and two companions negotiating the sale of the animal to a certain Aladdin Rama, also of Brgy. Bagtik.

Upon identifying the cow, Aboy and Calidguid conducted a citizen's arrest and held Bernadez, but his companions Erikson Bernadez and Antonio de la Cruz were able to escape. The owner turned the suspect over to the Mabinay police. Up to press time yesterday, it was not known whether Bernadez's two companions had been captured.*RG
