Hog farmers to hold nat'l
convention in Cagayan de Oro

Thousands of hog farmers from all over the country will converge at the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc.'s 15th Hog Convention and Trade Exhibit on April 28 to 30 at the Atrium of the Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City, a press release from the organizers said.

NFHFI national chairman is Nemesio G. Co while president is Albert R.T. Lim Jr. of the Negros Occidental Hog Raisers Association. This year's convention, themed "Convergence of Hog Entrepreneurs for Enhancement of Raisers' Strategies or CHEERS!, will be hosted by the Northern Mindanao Hog Raisers Association Inc. headed by Fortunato Venegas, the press release said.

Agriculture Secretary Domingo Panganiban will be the keynote speaker during the opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. on April 28, while Rep. Benasing Macarambon, chairman of the House committee on agriculture, will be the luncheon speaker.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has issued Proclamation No. 1028 declaring the period from April 24 to 30, 2006 as "Hog Farmers Week, the press release said."

At the convention, distinguished local and international speakers who will talk on various aspects of hog farming like efficient methods in swine production, nutrition, waste management and pig disease prevention and eradication.
