The National Economic Development Authority said
the Philippines should diversify its outsourcing work beyond call
centers to take advantage of the job opportunities presented by
other business process outsourcing companies coming to the country.
NEDA Director-General Romulo Neri said in a statement
that although call centers are at the forefront of the outsourcing
industry, other BPO companies such as HP Global delivery Center,
Manulife and Deutsche Knowledge Services are also starting to
expand their operations in the country. He said that this means
jobs for the educated workforce of the country as these companies
are hiring language-proficient professionals in Information Communication
Technology and finance sectors.

MBBCI
bucks gov't
center in Taculing
A position paper supporting the opposition of the
Taculing Barangay Council to the construction of a government
center in the area was issued yesterday by the Metro Bacolod Chamber
of Commerce and Industry.
It said the barangay should be developed as an
academic area, being the site of government schools. It also said
the city should look at other sites for the center away from crowded
areas but accessible to public transport. It also said it should
make an inventory of its own lands to have more choices, and consider
other donors offering sites for the center for free.
