Miss Bayawan
may get funds

If the Provincial Board approves Bayawan City Ordinance No. 74, the winner in the Search for Miss Bayawan will receive P100,000 in Priority Development Assistance Fund, the same amount given to members of the Oriental Negros Sanggunian and members of the Bayawan City Council.

The ordinance proposes to institutionalize the pageant and provide funds for the winner to undertake tourism projects.

The proposed ordinance states that the Miss Bayawan represents the city in certain functions, and in the search that highlights the annual fiesta celebration of the city, standards have to be set in selection of the winner. The measure also proposes directs the City Budget Office to include in its annual budget preparation a separate amount to serve as a revolving fund in financing projects or activities during the reign of the Miss Bayawan.

The City Tourism Council, with the approval of the mayor, will identify the project or activity to be undertaken using the fund, in accordance with the rules set by the local government, particularly the tourism office, the ordinance also proposes.*RG
